Bottom Time E-Mail News Archives

September 7, 2012

It is hard to believe that summer is over and kids are back in school. Diving has still been good. Three of us dove on the car in Big Detroit Lake on Labor Day and the visibility is not very good on the lake. There are still a few students that have not finished their checkout dives and we need to get them finished up before the lake temperatures drop. I am still trying to set up the advanced classroom and need to hear from everyone on times that will work for you.

I am in the process of putting a trip to Belize together some time in January and should have prices by the first of the week. If interested in doing this trip let me know and I will put you on the list for more information. I have been to Belize two times once in 98 at Blackbirds Caye Resort and the second time in 03 on the Nekton Pilot live-a-board. Both trips were great and the diving is excellent as the reefs are full of giant sponges and lots of fish. We will be doing either Blackbird Caye Resort on Turneffe Atoll or Glover's Atoll Resort on Glover's Atoll.

Tip of the week : Slow down. Just about everyone goes too fast underwater. To most aquatic life, divers are big scary goofballs who make a ton of racket. When you slow down and relax, animals come out and you'll see some amazing life. You'll also maximize your air supply and you'll be able to get your buoyancy dialed in better.

During the month of September we will give the second tank free on a one day rental package.

Our winter hours are in effect but if you make arrangements we will have gear set up for you to dive.

Winter hours are by appointment. I am around most of the time but it is best to call ahead to make sure.
